R
RBCE ‘Relevant Benefit Crystallisation Event”
This technical sounding term refers to any lump sum with a tax-free element that counts against your lump sum allowance and/or your lump sum and death benefit allowance. Tax-free cash sums are the most popular example, but also an uncrystallised funds pension lump sum (UFPLS) or a lump sum death benefit payment.
Regular investment
An amount invested into your pension regularly, rather than a one-off lump sum.
Risk
The balance of the uncertainty of an investment. A higher risk investment generally aims to achieve a high rate of return but usually comes with a higher chance that if things go wrong, your losses will be bigger.
